The Avenues Receives Final Approvals
Government decisions pave way for construction to begin
PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (July 30, 2007) – The state of Florida and city of Punta Gorda have given final approval for The Avenues, a new housing community in Punta Gorda. Both governments approved zoning changes to the city’s comprehensive land use plan needed for the project. The Bove Company, the project’s developer, now plans to start construction in September, with completion scheduled for May 2008.
"All of the government partners involved in this project have embraced The Avenues from the beginning, which is a testament to how much the community needs this project,” said Gabriel Bove, principal of the Bove Company. “We look forward to working closely now with customers to make their dream of home ownership a reality and to share the groundbreaking with them."
The Avenues will be built at Airport Road between U.S. 41 and Cooper Street. Project partnerships and special financing programs enable qualified customers to own a home with only 1 percent down and about $600 a month in fixed-rate mortgage payments. Credit counseling also is available.
Partners include Bove Company, The Housing Corporation of Charlotte County, Punta Gorda Housing Authority, the City of Punta Gorda and the YMCA.
The Avenues will offer 176 condominium homes with two- and three-bedroom units, ranging in size from 1,259 to 1,478 square feet. The Avenues homes will come complete with kitchen appliances, tile floors, carpet and front porches. Amenities include an on-site daycare center, a scenic lake, maintenance-free landscaping, a swimming pool and a playground.
The Avenues new sales center is now open, and reservations are being accepted. The Avenues is located just east of U.S. 41 on Airport Road within walking distance to a number of Punta Gorda’s largest employers, a grocery store and schools. Downtown Punta Gorda is five minutes away by car.
